Obituary

Geraldine G. Ritzert age 97 of Richmond, IL died September 19, 2024.  She was born in Chicago, IL on October 12, 1926.  The daughter of the late Bert and Mae (Grobarek) Weber.   On May 14, 1949, in Waukegan IL she was united in marriage to the late Alvin H. Ritzert.  Gerry was the last remaining member of her 10 student 1944 Class of Richmond Burton High School.  She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for many years where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Altar Guild.  Member of the Richmond Legion Auxiliary and the Harvard Moose Golden Agers.  Charter member of the Richmond Trailblazers and Genasnoers Snowmobile Clubs.  She also bowled in numerous leagues around Twin Lakes and Richmond.

In her early years Gerry helped the World War II cause by making Walkie Talkies for the Roland Radio Corp.  Grandma Gerry, as she is affectionally called by all that know her loved to knit hats for the homeless, watch birds and go fishing.   She loved to do crafts and go to craft fairs.  Grandma Gerry loved playing cards and Bingo with her family and spending time with them.

Survived by her daughter Kathy Polinski of Richmond, IL.   Granddaughters Cory (J.P.) Prentice of Hebron, IL and Jamie Weyrauch (Bryan Mack) of Genoa City, WI.  Loving Great Grandmother to Riley, Gabriella, Pacey and Claire.   She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Ritzert, Sister Delores "Dolly" (Roy) Kautz and son in law Robert Pacey.

Gerry's family would like to say a heartfelt Thank you to JourneyCare Hospice especially Marcy, Trista, Kristy and Kara for all the care and compassion they have given them during this time.

Memorial Service will be held on October 12, 2024, at 12:00PM at Grace Lutheran Church 6000 Broadway St.  Richmond, IL. Inurnment will follow in Richmond Cemetery.   Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of services at the church. Memorials in her name may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.   The Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory of Genoa City, WI is honored to serve the Ritzert family.
