Herbert E. Smith; 90: of Elkhorn, WI formerly of Elgin, IL & Horseshoe Bend AR died Monday October 19, 2015 at Holton Manor Nursing Home Elkhorn, WI.  He was born March 15, 1925 in Lake Geneva, WI the son of the late Herbert and Emma (Fritz) Smith.  He was united in marriage to the former Pauline G. Schroeder in Elgin, IL on July 26, 1947.  Herb served in the US Army-Airborne as a paratrooper during WWII.  He worked as an auto mechanic for over 34 years with Bigger Chevrolet of Elgin, IL retiring and moving to Horseshoe Bend, AR in 1990.  Herb enjoyed fishing, and in his later years golf, golf and more golf. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Elgin Lodge #799.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Pauline, two grandsons; Jason (Rebecca) White of Paddock Lake, WI and Michael White of Mountain Home, AR, Three great-grandchildren; Grant and Marley White and Dakota Peacock and by a host of other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law; Alene (Ronald) White, two brothers and six sisters.   Private family funeral service will be held at a later date.  On-line guestbook is at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.  Arrangements completed by Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory Elkhorn, WI.
