Howard L. Borchardt, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in Elkhorn, WI.  Howard was born in Highland Park, IL on October 15, 1921, to Louis and Edna Borchardt.  He spent most of his life in Northbrook, IL.  Howard was active in St. Peter Church in Northbrook.  He sang in the church choir and enjoyed ringing the church bells on Sunday mornings to call the congregation to worship.  Howard served during WWII in the Army Air Corps of the United States and returned to civilian life after the war.  He spent most of his career at Commonwealth Edison.  He loved to dance, and also enjoyed swimming and water-skiing on Wheeler Lake in Lakewood, WI.  After retirement he spent his free time collecting classic automobiles.  He was a member of the Harvard Moose Lodge and the American Legion.  Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn F. (Kay) Borchardt.  He is survived by his children, Stephen Borchardt and wife Lynn of Highlands Ranch, CO; Janice Borchardt of Albuquerque, NM; Amy Truby and husband Michael of Appleton, WI; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.  Howard will be remembered by his family and friends for his amazing spirit and happiness.
