His grandchildren were his number one joy, and he loved spending time with them.
Hugh “Buddy” Schilz, a lifelong resident of the Twin Lakes area, passed away on October 9, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on June 30, 1958, Buddy was a familiar and well-loved presence in the community he called home throughout his life.
Buddy worked in construction his entire life, bringing dedication, skill, and pride to his work. He was someone who enjoyed staying busy and creating with his hands, and that spirit carried into the things he loved most outside of work as well. He enjoyed fishing, boating, watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, and going on motorcycle rides with his wife. He also had a special fondness for collecting tools, especially flashlights that he could put to use while he was building.
Above all else, Buddy’s greatest happiness was found in his family. His grandchildren were his number one joy, and he loved spending time with them. The moments he shared with them will be remembered with deep affection by those who knew how much they meant to him.
On September 4, 1982, he married Sandra “Sandy” Goins in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, beginning a marriage that remained a central part of his life. He is survived by his wife, Sandra “Sandy” Schilz; his sons, Joseph Schilz and his wife Kelly, and Michael Schilz and his wife Mallory; and his grandsons, Oliver Schilz, Enzo Schilz, Jaxson Schilz, and Noah Schilz. He also leaves behind the lasting love of his family and the many memories they shared together.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Schilz and Barbara (Baden)Schilz.
He will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his enjoyment of the outdoors and simple pleasures, and most of all for the love he gave to his family. His memory will live on in the lives of those who knew him and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 17, 2026 from 1:00PM until 4:00PM at Partridge Farms 7830 400th Ave Burlington, WI. 53015.
Memorials in his name may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or any veteran charity of your choice.
