Obituary

Irma G. Hladik, 86 of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the Gardens at Ridgestone.  She was born February 10, 1938 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late John "Jack" and Cecelia (Gruszkowski) Stajkowski.  Irma was united in marriage to Ralph A. Hladik on April 26, 1958. Together, they moved from Chicago to Wisconsin in 1974.  Irma was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Faith Church in Waterford, WI.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed going to the movies, and loved spending time with her family most of all.

Irma graduated from Mercy High School with the Class of 1956.  She went on to earn her bachelor's degree in education from Chicago State University in 1968 and her master's degree in School Guidance in 1971. Irma worked for the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare from 1956-1959.  She taught Third and Fourth Grade at St. Christopher School in Midlothian, IL.  Irma served as the guidance counselor at District 142 in Oak Forest, IL, Randall Elem. School in Twin Lakes, Brookwood Elem. School in Genoa City, Woods and Traver Elem. School in Lake Geneva until she retired in 2001.  Irma was grateful that she was able to be home with her children when they were young since it was the "best job ever."

Irma is survived by her two children: Becky Hladik and John Hladik, grandson, Kalan Hladik, bonus daughter, Emily Koltz, nieces and nephew: Jan (Don) Sokolowski, Nancy (George) West, and Chris Follmer, dear cousin, Alex O'Reilly, many great and great-great nieces and nephews, extended family and very dear friends. She was preceded in death by husband, Ralph, son, Mark Hladik, and sister, Phyllis (Ray) Follmer.

A Memorial Service will be 11:00AM on Saturday, August 3,2024 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Faith Community, 305 S. First St. Waterford, WI.  Visitation will be 10:00AM on Saturday until the service time.  Online guest book available at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hladik Family for a donation to the Staff of Ridgestone.
