Obituary

Jacqueline Ann Ubrig, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her boundless love and caring spirit. At age 83, she passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024.   She was a resident of Twin Lakes, WI, formerly of Chicago, IL.  Born on January 22, 1941, in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late John and Bobbette Wiegele.

On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy's death shook the nation and citizens gathered together to watch the news reports. That evening, Jackie, along with her friends, visited a local bar to process and discuss the breaking news. It was then that she met a handsome young man who turned out to be the love of her life, William Ubrig. Just shy of a year later, on November 14, 1964, the couple was married. Together they raised four children in Chicago. Jackie was an exceptional homemaker, wife, and mother. She made the Ubrig household the place where all of her children's friends liked to hang out. Her children recall that Jackie would have a cake baked every day when they got home from school. She was a caring woman whose heart also held room for several beloved canine companions over the years. While the kids were growing up, the family enjoyed going on camping trips together, and Jackie was an expert organizer who prepared for every potential need. Later in life, Jackie worked as a teacher at a children's daycare center for 20 years, retiring in 2006. In her free time, she enjoyed playing Bingo, watching the Hallmark Channel, Friday Fish Fry and especially loved to crochet. As the matriarch of the family, she made all of her children and grandchildren feel special and loved by never missing a birthday card.

Jackie is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, William Ubrig Sr.; children, Denise (Manny Zelaya) Ubrig, Karen (Marcos) Castellanos, William "Billy" (Holly) Ubrig Jr., and Richard (Kay) Ubrig; grandchildren, Stephanie, Jeffrey, and Nicholas Battles, Matthew, Daniel, and Andrew Castellanos, and Cailey and Connor Ubrig; great-granddaughters, Ellie, and Lily.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Brookside Care Center and Kenosha Hospice Alliance for their exceptional care of their beloved Mother.

No formal funeral service will be held, but the Ubrig family plans to hold a celebration of life in the near future. Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory of Twin Lakes, WI, is honored to serve the Ubrig family.

Though she is no longer with us, Jackie's love and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
