Obituary

James "Jimmy" J. Maurina; 50, of West Allis, WI died unexpectedly Monday March 7, 2016.  He was born in Milwaukee, WI on October 11, 1965 the son of Karen L. (Hein) Maurina and the late Wayne J. Maurina.  Jimmy worked in construction.  He was a mixed martial arts instructor and coached Team Maurina. Jimmy is survived by his two sons: Anthony and Nicholas, his mother Karen Maurina, two brothers; Daniel (Lanette) Maurina and David (Susan) Maurina, nephew and three nieces; Mitchell, Megan, Alexa and Allison Maurina and by a host of other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father Wayne and a brother Robert.

Jimmy was the nicest guy in the world. You would be hard pressed to find somebody who did not love Jimmy with his warm smile and contagious sense of humor. I am sure that everyone reading this has "Jimmy quotes" they could share. Everybody reading this likely has dozens of "Jimmy stories" they could share. While Jimmy looked as though (and he could) put a serious hurt on a person, within minutes of meeting Jimmy you immediately knew here was a special man with a love for life and everybody in it and a bigger than life personality. Jimmy was "a lover not a fighter"...alright he was a fighter but he had a greater genuine interest in being a friend to everyone he met. He was a great father who loved his sons Tony and Nicholas with all his heart...Jimmy was a wonderful son who called his mother Karen all the time and was not the least bit afraid to be called a Momma's boy. Jimmy wasn't afraid of anything...okay...he didn't care for clowns much...but that was only because our parents had these horrible pictures of hobo clowns in our rooms when we were kids and some nights Jimmy would see the light come in the window and hit the picture just right but that was an unrealistic fear (again we all have many Jimmy stories).

Our loss here on earth is truly heavens gain and what I would give to be a fly on the Pearly Gates for Jimmy's conversation with Saint Peter. If I know Jimmy…he might even convince Saint Peter to come back here with him.

On behalf of the Maurina family we wish to personally thank all of you...Jimmy's friends...for all the years of happiness, laughter and love you have showed our Jimmy. He lived his life for every one of us and for that he is truly going to be missed...more than he could have realized.

Team Maurina lives on with his spirit, zest for life and how nice Jimmy was to everyone he met.

Jimmy always said that he did not want a funeral, he did not want friends to mourn him.  Jimmy preferred that we instead have a "big party…people should have fun", in his memory to celebrate life. We are having a celebration of life for friends and family on Saturday, March 12 from 11:00 to 2:00 at Danny and Lanette's home located at N7416 Meadow Lark Drive, Elkhorn, WI. On-line guestbook is at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com
