James J. Sayers, age 85, of Twin Lakes, WI died September 3, 2016 in his home surrounded by his wife and children. Born on January 30, 1931 to the late James and Louise (Biffl) Sayers. Jim married Anntherese (Mullen), the only love of his life for 65 years, at St. James Church in Ferndale, MI at the age of 20.
His vision created Indian Woods in Waterford, MI as well as becoming the construction manager for Pulte Homes in Chicago. Jim also was a past president of Lake County Home Builders Association and general manager of Lake Barrington Shores, IL. His passion for building led him to be the president and founder of Sayers Homes. Edgewater Condos in Twin Lakes, WI and Antioch, IL were also the creation of Jim's talent.
He was a proud member of St. John's Catholic Church in Twin Lakes, Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club in Drayton Plains, MI. Music played a large part in his life. Playing saxophone at Lapeer High School and Wayne State University led to the creation of his own swing band, Jimmy Sayers and the Salvadores. Jim continued playing wind instruments with the Concert Band of Charlotte County Florida and the Port Charlotte Concert Band in Florida. Jim played in the Burlington WI Kiwanis Civil band well into his later years.
Jim is survived by his wife Anntherese, eight children; Jane (Lynn) Knutsen, Richard Sayers, Michael (Kathy) Sayers, Elaine (Jim) Trentadue, Jeff (Joni) Sayers, Lori (Dave) McCoy, Nancy Dull and Teri (Scott) Kaskin, 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Further survived by his brother, Robert (Patricia) Sayers, niece Kerry (Matthew) Doucet and nephew Darren (Brenda) Sayers. Jim was the proud uncle of 70 nieces and nephews in Michigan. Preceded in death by his brother, Richard Sayers and his sister, Louise Sayers.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 4 – 8 PM at the Haase-Lockwood Funeral Home 620 Legion Drive, Twin Lakes, WI. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday September 10, 2016 at 11 AM at St. John's Catholic Church 701 N. Lake Ave., Twin Lakes, WI.
