Elkhorn: Jean A. Amos, 91 of Amos Road Elkhorn, WI died peacefully Sunday December 28, 2014 at Lakeland Health Care Center Elkhorn, WI. Jean was born February 16, 1923 in Elkhorn, WI the daughter of the late William and Edith (McKenzie) Amos. She graduated from Elkhorn High School in 1941 then attended and graduated from Whitewater Normal School with a degree in education. She taught as an elementary school teacher in Genoa City for three years, Waterford for one and then retired in 1987 after teaching 4th grade for over 25 years with the Burlington School District. Jean was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of Elkhorn, WI. She was a former member of the Jones Travel Club and The Senior Travel Club. Jean enjoyed sports, especially watching all high school basketball and football games. In 2002, she and her sister, Vera received the first "Elkhorn High School Fan of the Year Award". She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association; Jean won many awards over the years for her antiques and vegetables that she showed at the Walworth County Fair. Jean is survived by first cousin Wilbert (Phyllis) Clark of South Dennis, MA and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Vera and first cousins George Clark, Alden (Audie) Fleming, Ester (Lil) Morgan, Winona Welkos, Ione Hanson, Phyllis Leeson and Clarence McKenzie. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday January 2, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church 111 N. Broad Street Elkhorn, WI with Rev. Lamar Gibson officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan, WI. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until time of service.
