Jean Wobbe Mahon of Delavan, Wisconsin passed away on January 23, 2022, at home in the company of her family. She was born in Geneseo, Illinois on July 3, 1941. She was 80.
Jean grew up in Des Plaines, Illinois. She graduated from Maine Township High School in 1959. She married Thomas Lon Mahon in 1959. While in Des Plaines, Jean was an active member of the choirs (singing and handbells) at Christ Church, United Church of Christ. Jean dedicated many years of her life to nurturing and raising her five children, supporting their childhood activities, and participating in local church and community activities. Her passion was music: piano, singing and handbells. Employment was frequently selling shoes for local customer-oriented specialty shoe sales companies. Jean was the primary business manager for the family woodworking business, eventually opening a retail store in Union, Illinois. Jean had her retirement home constructed on wooded acres near Leaf River, Illinois, where she enjoyed her dogs, the deer, birds, and other creatures visiting the property. Jean participated in the Freeport, IL Choral Society both singing and leading the handbell choir. Jean chose to spend her final days living in Delavan, WI to be near family.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents Richard Kenneth Wobbe and Dawn Aileen Wobbe, her brother Paul Bruce Wobbe, her sister Ann Wobbe Wisniewski, and her granddaughter Emily.
She is survived by her children Thomas Jr (Christine), Jane Underwood (Jeffrey), David (Amber), Donna Jones (Patrick) and James (Jo-Ann), 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Visitation will take place at Richmond Township United Methodist Church, N6197 Church Rd, Delavan, Wisconsin on at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 5, 2022. A memorial service will commence at Noon at the same location. The service will be streamed over Facebook Live the link below.
