IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan E.
Gunderson
August 6, 1943 – June 25, 2024
Joan E. Gunderson, 80 of Elkhorn, WI, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. She was born August 6, 1943, in Whitewater, WI, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lois (Zimmerman) Miller. On April 7, 1962, Joan was united in marriage to Theodore "Ted" O. Gunderson in Fort Atkinson, WI. Together they made their lifetime home and raised a family in Elkhorn.
Joan was an entrepreneur who owned and operated a custom drapery shop in Elkhorn for decades, with her work still seen today in mansions on Lake Geneva. She was lively, open-minded, well informed and liked by all. Always open for adventure, she enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and keeping all the birds and squirrels in the neighborhood well fed. She enjoyed crafting, sewing and crocheting.
Perhaps most of all, she cherished her time with her large extended family of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her four children: Gayle Guthrie, Diane (Donald) Boyd, Ted (Peggy) Gunderson, and Jeff Gunderson, six grandchildren: Amanda (Scott), Craig (Kelly), James (Nichole), Elizabeth (Brian), Christopher, and Ben (Kristyna), four step-grandchildren: Theresa (Chuck), Melissa (Jason), Mitch (Ashley) and Malerie (Kyle), fourteen great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Ted, and five siblings: Pauline, Darlene, Joe, Lauren and Al.
Private Family Service will be held at a later date. An online guest book available at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com, Joan's family invites you to share your memories there.
