Joan A. Jaekel, age 81, of Lake Geneva, WI and formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away Sunday morning February 26, 2017 at the Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn.

The former Joan Ahnen was born on August 1, 1935 in Chiacgo, IL, the daughter of the late John and Marie Julcher Ahnen.  On July 31, 1954, Joan was united in marriage to Edward Jaekel.  He preceded her in death on December 14, 2001.

Joan formerly worked as a crossing guard and later as a supervisor for the Chicago Police Department.  She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and donating her crafts to charities.  She also enjoyed bowling and roller skating in her younger years.

Joan is survived by her 3 children, Scott (Debbie) Jaekel of Chicago, IL, Kim (Mark) Oxtoby of Pell Lake, WI and Chris (Stephanie) Jaekel of Pell Lake, WI; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother Robert Ahnen.
