Joan G. Rzonca, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, in Burlington, Wisconsin. Born on September 29, 1933, in New York, New York, Joan was a vibrant presence who dedicated much of her life to both her family and her career.
Joan enjoyed a fulfilling professional life, having worked for many years at Abbot Laboratories as an Administrative Assistant. Her commitment and work ethic were evident in all she did. She also contributed to her community as a member of the Wilmot Ski Patrol, providing support to those in need and embracing the outdoors with enthusiasm. Every Wednesday, Joan volunteered at McHenry Hospital transporting patients to and from their procedures.
In October 1953, Joan married Richard Rzonca, with whom she shared a loving bond until his passing. Together, they created a nurturing environment for their children and instilled values of hard work, kindness, and perseverance. Joan is remembered by her family as a devoted mother to her children: Debbie (Don) Miskell, Paul (Noriko) Rzonca, Diane Chuen, and Peter Rzonca. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Jimmy, Corrine (Jason) Quade, Hiroshi, Sydney, Aubrey, Ben, Olivia, Sam, Jake, Greta, Huntley, Kaleb, Aria, Jordan, and Aubree, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Joan's love for her family was matched only by her passion for gardening, where she found solace and joy. She cherished spending time at the lake, creating lasting memories with her loved ones, particularly during the holidays, which she adored. Her warm personality and love for taking pictures with people reflect her deep appreciation for connection, capturing special moments that would be treasured forever.
As a proud member of Grace Lutheran Church in Richmond, Illinois, Joan actively participated in the Women of the ELCA, contributing to her spiritual community and further enhancing her rich, fulfilling life.
Joan's family remembers her fondly, alongside those who preceded her in death: her father, Frederick Ammon; her mother, Gertrude (Ruffi) Ammon; her brother, James Ammon; her sister, Gladys Bischoff; and her beloved husband, Richard Rzonca.
Joan G. Rzonca leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and warmth that will continue to resonate through the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who find solace in their cherished memories of her.
