Obituary

John Edward Fisher, age 84, of Elkhorn, WI, passed away peacefully at Lakeland Health Care Center on September 4, 2025.  John was born on October 3, 1940 in Chicago, IL son of the late Clarence "Bud" and Helen (Kale) Fisher.

John grew up and graduated High school in Chicago, IL and then served four years as a member of the United States Air Force. His son, Craig, followed in his footsteps by also joining the US Air Force, and his grand-daughter, Nicole Hope, served in the US Navy.  Together the three of them share a military bond.

During John's time serving in the military, he met his first love, Martha Spell. They married in 1964 and had four wonderful children. They lived in Hinsdale, IL and also spent many weekends making fond memories at their cottage on Lake Delavan in Wisconsin, boating, water skiing, and snowmobiling.

Later in life, John was happily married to Nancy McMahon from 1991 until the time of her passing in 2022. John had many passions in life. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, skiing, watching sports, and even flying his own plane.

John was a successful businessman and craftsman. His sons, John and Joel worked alongside him while he owned and founded his own corporate pipefitting business. John proved he could build or fix anything he put his mind to.  One of his most notable accomplishments was building a farmhouse with his sons from the ground up on a beautiful piece of land in the country.  Everyone enjoyed spending time on this peaceful sanctuary in Elkhorn, where he and Nancy lived through their retirement. John's mother, Helen, also enjoyed living in the large farmhouse built by her son until her passing in 1998, just before her 100th Birthday.

John thoroughly enjoyed people.  He was a friend to everyone with a great sense of humor, and spent a lifetime building lasting relationships with all he knew.  His kindness, generosity, and love will forever remain in the hearts of all those who knew him.  He believed in building not just structures, but also relationships and memories that stand the test of time. Thank you for the love, laughter, and guidance you brought to our lives, Dad.  You will always be remembered with a great love and for a life well lived.

John is survived by his children:  Patti (Aaron) VanDyke, John (Miriam) Fisher, Joel (Nikki) Fisher, and Craig Fisher;  Step-children: Michael (Jennifer) McMahon, Scott (Mary) McMahon, and Beth (Robert) Camp;  Grandchildren:  Daniel (Jennifer), Megan, Lauren, Samantha, Tiffani, Hope, Josh (Meghan), Jack, Bodi, Henry, Devin, Henry, Harrison, and Adriana;  Great grandchildren: Jackson, Owen, Ivy, Lucas, and Chase.  John is also survived by his former wife, mother of his children and lifelong friend, Martha Baerwald. John is preceded in death by his parents and cherished, loving wife, Nancy Fisher.

A memorial service will take place at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 730 N. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI on Friday, October 3rd, 2025 at 10:30AM.  A brief visitation will take place before the service beginning at 10:00AM.  John will be laid to rest at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery in Niles, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John's name to Fisher House - Milwaukee, WI.  An online guestbook can be found at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.  John's arrangements are under the direction of Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory of Elkhorn, WI.
