John D. Kuhlmann, age 69 of the Village of Bloomfield, WI (Powers Lake) died Saturday morning September 3, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

John David Kuhlmann was born on June 16, 1947 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Bernard and Mary Jane Neiman Kuhlmann.  On November 7, 1964 in New Buffalo, MI, John was united in marriage to Colette Hobbie.  They lived in Chicago, IL until moving to Powers Lake in 1976.

John served the City of Chicago as a Police Officer from 1967 until 1975.  He then served the people of Bloomfield Township as their Police Chief from 1975 until 1981.  John then moved on to his passion of bowling.  He ran the Kuhlmann's Lanes in Twin Lakes from 1984 until moving to Antioch Lanes from 1991 until 1996.  John was an avid bowler and bowled nine 300 games and two 800 series.  John then worked for 13 years as manager of the tool rental at Home Depot in Lake Geneva.

John was instrumental in acquiring fire numbers for the Town of Bloomfield.  He also was instrumental in getting blue lights on squad cars in Wisconsin through the Attorney General's office.  He was an avid Bears and Cubs fan.

John is survived by: His wife of 51 years-Colette; 1 son John (Michelle Lambert) Kuhlman of Lake Geneva, WI; 1 daughter-Jill Laing of Kaukauna, WI; 3 granddaughters-Madison, Michaela and Marina and 1 great grandson-Jackson.

John was preceded in death by 2 brothers-Robert and Garry.

A Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday November 5, 2016 from 1:00PM until 4:00PM at Sit N'bull, 39600 Bloomfield Rd., Powers Lake, WI.  Memorial remembrances may be made to Aurora at Home Hospice, 103 N.
