John "Jack" Ames: 86, of Bowers Road Elkhorn died peacefully Tuesday November 22, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.  He was born June 24, 1930 in Elkhorn, WI.  He was the son of the late Lloyd and Mildred (Wright) Ames.  Jack graduated from Elkhorn Area High School with the Class of 1948.  He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison Agriculture Short Course.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1953 with a tour of duty in Korea.  On April 30, 1960 he was united in marriage to Donna E. Miller at Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church in Boone County, IL.  Jack farmed his whole life on the family farm on Bowers Road in the Town of Geneva. The farm was acquired by his great, great grandfather in 1852.  He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Elkhorn and the Elkhorn VFW Post # 6375. He served on the cemetery board for the North Geneva Cemetery and the zoning board for the Town of Geneva.  He enjoyed feeding and watching the birds at the feeder and mowing the lawn.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his wife of 56 years, Donna; two children, John (Marisol) Ames, Dr. Mary (Dr. Tom Wigton) Ames all of Elkhorn, WI; eight grandchildren Eduardo, Grace, Lauren, Olivia, Anamaria, Emily, John "Jack" and John Donald;   one brother; Richard (Doris) Ames of Sharon, WI and by a host of other relatives and friends.  Jack was preceded in death by his brother; Donald. A private family funeral service was held Saturday November 26, 2016 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 730 N. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI with Rev. David C. Rau officiating.  Burial was at North Geneva Cemetery in the Town of Geneva.  Memorials may be made in Jack's name to: First Evangelical Lutheran Church Youth Group.  On-line guestbook is at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.
