Kathleen J. Greene, age 78, of Delavan, WI, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025. Daughter of the late Donald and Loraine (Bellas) Shuman, Kathy was born on April 22, 1946. She and her five siblings were raised on farms in the Elkhorn area, where she spent time caring for a variety of animals. Her upbringing shaped her lifelong love of animals and nature as well as her fierce frugality. After graduating from Elkhorn High School in 1946, Kathy was united in marriage with the love of her life, Terrell L. Greene, on June 27th at Millard Community Church. Kathy and Terrell raised two sons and a daughter together. Her small stature didn't impede her ability to keep her sizeable sons in line—she only needed to wave a wooden spoon in their direction to make them mind their manners.

In addition to raising her family, Kathy worked part-time for 38 years at Frank's grocery stores. Her dedication was evident, especially in the bakery, where she enjoyed building relationships with her customers. Kathy was an avid gardener, cultivating vegetables and beautiful perennial flowers that she took great pride in. She was an involved grandmother who was always happy to spend time with her grandkids. Her youngest grandsons were fortunate to be raised in the same home as their grandparents, nurturing close bonds and creating lasting memories. In her later years, as her grandchildren grew and her flower beds shrank, Kathy poured her love and attention into her beloved rescue cat, Muffin.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Terrell Greene; children, Rex (Tracy) Greene, Jac Greene, and Jolynn Greene; grandchildren, Howard (Crystal) Newberg III, Allyson, Jacob, Natalie, Ronin, and Dylan Greene; great-grandchildren, Howard Newberg IV, Adam Nicewarner, and Jaxon Giovannoni; sister, Carolyn (Bob) Blood; brother, Donald (Debra) Shuman Jr.; sister-in-law, Apple Shuman; and faithful feline friend, Muffin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Loraine ; brothers, David, Steven, and Gerald Shuman; and granddaughter, Angela Giovannoni.

A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 12:00PM at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, WI 53121. A visitation will be held from 11:00AM until the service at noon. Online condolences at haaselockwoodfhs.com.
