Obituary

Kimberly Jo Gonzales, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, on September 28, 2025, surrounded by her devoted husband, daughters, and grandchildren. She was 54.

Born in Elkhorn on February 13, 1971, to William and Judy (Dowey) Schlimmer, Kim grew up in nearby Walworth, where she developed a lifelong love of agriculture earning Fairest of the Walworth County Fair in 1989. An active member of both 4-H and FFA, she graduated from Big Foot High School and later completed the UW–Madison Farm and Industry Short Course.

While in Madison, Kim met her husband, Jason Gonzales. They married on August 13, 1994, at St. Patrick's Church and this past August joyfully celebrated 31 years of marriage.

Kim's passion for the Wisconsin dairy industry shaped much of her life. Alongside Jason, she spent two decades milking cows on Bowers Road in Elkhorn, caring for their herd and their land with pride. At the same time, she dedicated 20 years to the United States Postal Service as a rural route carrier in Lake Geneva, where neighbors came to know her for her bright smile and steadfast reliability.

Of all her accomplishments, Kim was proudest of her family. She is survived by her loving parents, William and Judy Schlimmer; her mother-in-law, Karen Gonzales; her husband, Jason Gonzales; and their three cherished daughters: Addy (Jacob) Wise of Kansas City, Missouri; Alexandria (Jacob) Williamson of Helena, Montana; and Aren Gonzales, a student at UW–Madison. Kim also leaves behind her adored grandchildren—Samuel Wise, Daniel Williamson, and Claire Wise—as well as two dear nephews, Theodore (Andi) Janas and Samuel (Alana) Janas.

Kim will be remembered for her boundless kindness, strong work ethic, and the warmth she extended to everyone she met. Her legacy of love, service, and family devotion will live on in all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Mass at noon at St. Patrick's Church 107 W. Walworth Street Elkhorn, WI. Lunch will be provided afterward in Saint Anthony Hall, located in the lower level of the church.

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." — Isaiah 41:10
