October 25, 1943 – January 6, 2025
Larry A. Norton, 81, of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025, following a battle with cancer. He was born on October 25, 1943, in Enterprise, Oregon, the son of the late Alvin and LaVera (Swisher) Norton. Larry spent his early childhood on various cattle ranches in the Wallowa Valley, located in northeast Oregon. In the late 1950s after the death of Larry's brother, Jack, to cancer, the family moved to Kenosha, WI. After high school, Larry attended technical college and earned an associate's degree in mechanical design. After serving his country for 2 years in the United States Navy, Larry pursued his career as a design engineer first in the agricultural product sector, and later in the fluid process sector. Larry created multiple patented designs for industrial products over the course of his career. Larry was united in marriage to Diane Roeglin on August 9, 1969, in Milwaukee, WI. Larry and Diane settled in Elkhorn shortly after they were married and raised their three children there. After Larry retired in 2010, he spent his time taking long walks around Elkhorn, and diving into his long-time passion for woodworking. Larry was a talented woodworker and made numerous pieces of furniture by hand for his family, also turning logs on his lathe into bowls and other items.
Larry is survived by Diane, his loving wife of 55 years, son Glen (Kelly) Norton, daughter Joy Loveland, and two granddaughters, Sarah and Leah Norton. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Dawn Norton, and brother Jack Norton.
A private Family Interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Elkhorn, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin, 3720 N 124th St. Ste O Wauwatosa, WI 53222. In addition, Larry's family would like to give special thanks to the Cancer and Advance Care staff at Froedtert Hospital, and the staff at LindenGrove rehabilitation center in Menomonee Falls.
