Elkhorn: Laurel E. "Dutch" Bronson, 96, of Hwy 11 Elkhorn, WI died peacefully Tuesday September 30, 2014 in his apartment at Ridge Stone Terrace Elkhorn, WI. He was born August 13, 1918 in Elkhorn, WI the son of the late Earl H. and Martha M. (Reick) Bronson. He was united in marriage to the former Ruth H. Huwald on November 26, 1949 in Chicago, IL, Ruth died June 22, 2008. Dutch was a lifetime farmer in the Town of LaFayette and he worked for over ten years in maintenance at Lutherdale Bible Camp north of Elkhorn. Dutch enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre, right till his last week of life. He was an avid bowler for decades and smoked cigars into his 80's, former member of the Homesteaders, Walworth County Senior Travel Club, and he enjoyed working in his lawn. He is survived by his daughter; Kathie (Jeffrey) Hanssen of Elkhorn, WI, granddaughter; Stephanie Ann (Matthew) Alderman of Walworth, WI, four great-grandchildren; Alex, Amanda, Avery and Anthony, one brother-in-law; John "Bud" Eddy of Beloit, WI and one sister-in-law; Virginia Huwald of Phoenix, AZ; nine nieces, two nephews and by a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by wife of 58 years, Ruth, daughter Bonnie Kay Bronson, one brother Floyd, three sisters; Winifred (Herman) Heiden, Isabel (Bibb) Graves and Julia Eddy, one brother-in-law; John "Jack" Huwald and one sister-in-law; June Huwald. Funeral service will be 10:30 am Saturday October 11, 2014 at Bethel United Methodist Church W5110 County Road A Elkhorn, WI with Rev. Joyce Rich officiating. Burial will be at Round Prairie Cemetery in the Town of LaGrange, WI. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday October 10, 2014 at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 730 N. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am until time of service. Memorials may be made in Laurel's name to: Bethel United Methodist Church.
