Laurie J Flood, born on December 31, 1956, in Springfield, Illinois, passed away on January 14, 2026, in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin surrounded by family and loved ones. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, sister-in-law, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and love touched the lives of many.
Laurie's journey began in Springfield, where she grew up, eventually becoming known for her vibrant spirit and supportive nature. Throughout her life, Laurie cherished her role as a mother. Her love, however, extended far beyond her own children. She was a second mom to their friends, a steady presence, a listening ear, and a source of comfort and encouragement to many in her community.
She married Phillip Flood on April 27, 1996, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, forming a partnership built on love, respect, and mutual support. Together, they created a home filled with laughter and care.
A devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan, Laurie found joy in cheering on her favorite team and sharing that enthusiasm with those she loved. She also loved shopping, especially on Temu and at Target, but what she enjoyed most was not the shopping itself, it was finding the perfect gift. Giving brought her the greatest happiness, and she had a special talent for choosing things that made others feel thought of and cherished. A collector at heart, each item she gathered held meaning, memory, or love.
Laurie leaves behind a loving family that will miss her dearly: her mother, Darlene Hadsell; her husband, Phillip Flood; her children, William (Anderia) Rathbone, Gene (Katrina) Rathbone, Peyote Rathbone (Mike Noble), Cody (Angela) Rathbone, Erin (Joshua) Blase, and Lacey Flood (Frank Beverly); her cherished grandchildren Leelah Fagan, Amiyah Relken, Laylah Rathbone-Lynn, Liam Blase, Kellen Blase, Lucian Reid, Renly Rathbone, and Roby Rathbone; along with her great-granddaughter, Elaina Garrett; her loving sister in-laws Jessie (Paul) Broadway, Stephanie (Ronnie) Mikrut, Monica (Dennis) Polheber. Her loving friend of 46 years Donna Knautz, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers.
She is preceded in death by her father, Gene Hurt, step father Robert Hadsell, Mother in-law Judy Flood, father in-law Skip Hammarstrom, sister Lisa Hadsell, and her grandson, Dillon Fagan. Laurie's life and legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her boundless love and unwavering support will be forever remembered by her family and friends.
