LaVern D. "Red" Rockwell age 75 of Elkhorn, WI passed away at his home on Sunday August 30, 2015.  LaVern was born on September 13, 1939, son of the late Richard and Tessie Rockwell.  LaVern was united in marriage to Judy Johnson on February 16, 1964 in Sturgis, South Dakota.  They have made the Elkhorn area their home for the last 35 years.  Lavern was a proud Veteran of the Air Force, he belonged to the Veterans for Peace and the Sierra Club; He was also on the Board of Hackmatack Wildlife Refuge, and ran for State Senate in 2006 and 2010. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with family and rooting the Packers to victory.

LaVern is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don Rockwell; sister, Clara Amacher; and one brother-in-law William Metcalf. LaVern is survived by his wife, Judy; three children; Bryan (Sandra) Rockwell of Milledgeville, IL, Shawn (Jim) Campisi of Machesney Park, IL, and Randy (Lori) Rockwell of Whitewater, WI; three sisters; Evelyn Metcalf of Albuquerque, NM, Anne Long of Verona, WI, and Barbara (Michael) Jordon of Dundee, IL; 6 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday September 5, 2015 at 12:00PM officiated by Pastor Dick Inglett at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home 730 N. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI.  A Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00AM until the time of service at the Funeral Home.  In lieu of Flowers the family has requested Memorials in LaVern's name be made out to the Sierra Club-John Muir Chapter, 754 Williamson Street Madison, WI 53703.  Guest registry can be found at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.  Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory of Elkhorn is assisting the family.
