Obituary

Lawrence M. Trezise, 82, most recently of Gurnee, IL (formerly Daytona Beach, FL, Pearson, WI, Zion, IL and Lindenhurst, IL) passed away peacefully in his sleep on March, 8 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walwyn and Muriel Trezise, his wife Lily Etta (Thorne) and his brothers Walwyn (MaryLou) and Thomas (Sharon).  He is survived by his sons Lorne (Lisa) and Scott (Rhea), his much-loved grandchildren Kimberly, Kenzie, Lane and Colin, as well as his sisters Kathy (Ed) Biesiadecki, Beth (Carl) Sorenson and his brother Robert Trezise.  He was the proud uncle of many nieces and nephews and enjoyed keeping in touch with his cousins his entire life.

Larry was loved by many, always eager to strike up a conversation or lend a hand.  Born and raised in Lake Bluff, IL, he had many fond memories of his youth.  One of 6 children, and with a neighborhood full of friends, there were plenty of people to join him in adventures along the shores of Lake Michigan, just a few houses down the street from their house.  He graduated from Lake Forest High School, and found his way to the Boy Scouts, becoming a camp counselor like his two older brothers at Camp Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan in northern Wisconsin.  There he met and fell in love with the daughter of the camp ranger and cook, and the two were married at the camp on a beautiful October weekend. He was a devoted husband and proud of his work for Commonwealth Edison in a wide variety of roles until his retirement from the Zion Nuclear plant.  He always loved travelling, whether it was a family trip driving across the country, camping in a state park or island hopping on a cruise ship.  In his later years, he enjoyed volunteering at the local hospitals in Daytona Beach, working in his yard, feeding the birds and yelling at squirrels.  He made friends wherever he went, and will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

Per Larry's wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of sending flowers, please consider planting some, or a tree, in his memory.  You could also consider donating to Scouting America at https://www.scouting.org/ . The family would like to thank the kind staff at Hospice Alliance in Pleasant Prairie, WI for helping as he made his final transition. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Haase-Lockwood and Associates Funeral Home and Crematory in Twin Lakes. Online condolences can be made at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com
