Leonie S. Mehring, age 91, of Gurnee, IL, died Friday evening March 4, 2016 at Theresa's Home Care in Gurnee, IL.
The former Leonie Susan Neitcher was born on January 9, 1925 in Simmern, Luxembourg, the daughter of the late Henri and Susan Goeren Neitcher. Leonie came to the United States in 1949. She was united in marriage to Lucien Mehring in Chicago, IL in 1949. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2006. She lived for many years in Morton Grove, IL, then moved to Golden Years in Walworth and then Gurnee a year ago.
Leonie was a homemaker and worked as a librarian in Morton Grove, IL and managed the library at Golden Years in Walworth, WI while living there. She was a member of the Luxembourg Brotherhood and the Loyal Order of the Moose. She enjoyed sewing, reading and playing the accordion.
Leonie is survived by: 2 sons-Ray (Linda) of Carol Stream, IL and Dan (Regina) of Genoa City, WI; 2 grandsons-Andrew (Jocelyn) and Justin (Lola); and 2 great grandsons-Nicholas and Henry.
A Memorial service for Leonie will be held at 1:00PM Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Haase-Lockwood & Assoc. Funeral Home and Crematory in Genoa City. The Mehring Family will receive friends from 12:00PM until the time of services at the Funeral Home.
