He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings: Doris (Reed), Richard, Marjorie (Caudil), Donald, his loving wife of 27 years, Edna Harry, and his stepsons Tim  and Jay O'Connor.

LeRoy graduated from Elkhorn Area High School in 1949. Artillery with Baker Battery 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division.  He was awarded the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged with a rank of sergeant.   After his years of service, he attended Mexico City College.  He went on to work in construction all his life.

LeRoy enjoyed gardening and spending time with other veterans.  He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  LeRoy served as the Commander of the Elkhorn American Legion Post 45 several years, and also as Commander of the Walworth County American Legion.  He was a member of the Honor Guard for the Elkhorn American Legion and the Elkhorn VFW.  He embraced the Marine motto "Semper Fidelis" – Always Faithful, One for All - All for One.

LeRoy stayed curious his entire life, often asking anyone with a phone to look up the answer to his current question.  He also loved to tell jokes – many that he would call his "originals".  Those that knew and loved him will miss his inquisitive nature and sense of humor.

His family is grateful for the devoted care he received while at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center and Holton Manor.
