Leroy C Gyger

Leroy Clarence Gyger, 85, of Trevor, WI went home to heaven on November 27th, 2025, at Sage Meadow in Lake Geneva, WI after suffering from Parkinson’s disease and other health issues for the past three years. He was born in Antioch, IL on August 23rd, 1940, to Floyd Sr and Helen (Cramer) Gyger.

Leroy attended Wilmot High School and received his diploma from the American School in Chicago, IL. He then enlisted for a short time in the US Navy at the USNTC, Great Lakes, IL and received an Honorable Discharge on October 26th, 1959. In 1976 he was awarded a diploma from the International Correspondence School, Seranton, PA for a Public Accounting Program.

For most of his life he was a custodian for Wilmot Grade School and retired from Riverview Grade School in Silver Lake, WI where he became good friends with his coworker Ron Schick.

Leroy is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including his caregiver David Gyger, and many great nieces and nephews.

Leroy is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Gertrude St John, Charlotte Hirschmiller and Floyd Gyger Jr. Also preceded in death by his sisters in law Mavis and Nova Gyger as well as his brothers in law Robert St John and Ray Hirschmiller and his niece Sandra Thoma.

David and Pam Gyger would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Nurse Amy, Chaplain Ray and Health Aid Pascalle from St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care given to our uncle.

We are very grateful also to the caregivers at Sage Meadow (Amy, Caleb, Megan and so many more) for your care of Leroy and treating him like family. He greatly appreciated everything you did for him. He also appreciated his visits from Pastor Golm of Peace Ev Lutheran Church and for giving him communion. Thank you to family and friends who prayed for Leroy and befriended him through the years. May God bless you all.

Leroy will be laid to rest in a private graveside service at Wilmot Cemetery. The Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory of Twin Lakes, WI is honored to serve the Gyger family.
