Obituary

Linda R. Marty, age 78, of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late John and Katherine (Meis) Knapp, Linda was born on August 15, 1947, in Elkhorn, WI.

Linda graduated from Big Foot High School in 1965 and went on to pursue a career in nursing. She began as a nurse's aide at Harvard Hospital in Illinois after completing her education at Waukesha County Technical College.

On October 13, 1973, Linda was united in marriage to Ronald D. Marty in Zenda, WI. In their early years together, they enjoyed traveling throughout the Midwest, often stopping to visit close friends and family along the way. While deeply rooted in the Midwest, Linda also developed a love for the countries of Honduras and Chile. In 1985, Ron and Linda traveled to Honduras, where they established residency and adopted their first child, Melissa. The following year, they journeyed to Chile to bring home their son, Bryan. In her final months, Linda often shared cherished stories of their travels and the many heartfelt memories that came from those experiences.

Always a homemaker at heart, Linda found joy in plants, crocheting, crafting, baking, and trying new recipes. In her later years, she could often be found outside tending to her garden, feeding the birds, or baking her favorite homemade goods for family and friends.

Most notably, Linda cherished her role as Gram. She was a constant, loving presence in her grandchildren's lives and could always be found cheering from the stands at their basketball and football games alongside Ron. To them, she was a guiding and motherly figure, truly irreplaceable.

Linda is survived by her children, Melissa (Marcus) Raby of Delavan, WI, and Bryan Marty of Miami, FL; grandchildren Adante, Jayden, and Xiomara Raby; brother John (Nancy) Knapp of Janesville, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Marty; parents, John and Katherine Knapp; brothers Edward, Tom, and Roger Knapp; and sister Mary Long.

A joint celebration of life will be held at a future date to honor both Ron and Linda, whose love and devotion to one another remained steadfast in both life and beyond.

Someone once said that Ron and Linda were "the salt of the Earth," and nothing could describe them better — steady, genuine, and giving. Their kindness and love left a mark on everyone who knew them, and their spirit will live on in the hearts of those they loved most.

Together again, forever loved.
