Lois J. Callarman age 79 of Genoa City, WI (Randall Township) died Monday evening May 5, 2014 at her home.
Lois Jean Callarman was born on April 21, 1935 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late William E. and Margaret Anger Callarman. She started school at Whittier Grammar School and moved to Glen Ellyn and graduated from the original Glenbard High School in 1953. Lois went on to Cornell College where she graduated in 1957. She taught school in Muscatine, Iowa for a few months until an injury caused her to quit teaching. She then took a political job with Cook County for 4 years. Lois then owned and operated a hardware store in Twin Lakes for several years.
Lois went on to take the civil service exam and was employed as a social worker in Waukegan for 18 years when she retired to take care of her mother. Lois was a volunteer for the Twin Lakes Food Pantry. She was a former member and board member of Calvary United Church of Christ in Twin Lakes. She was attending Trinity Lutheran Church in Pell Lake. She was a member of the Twin Lakes Senior Citizen's Club and traveled with them on many trips. She enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles, gardening, boating and going out to lunch with friends.
Lois is survived by her "adopted" children-Charlotte, Mary Helen, Jimmy, Fred, Dan, Dorothy, Paul, Jerry and Julia and 3 nieces-Lynn, Jill and Wendy.
She was preceded in death by her brother-David and stepfather-Robert F. Wallin in 1992.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00PM Thursday evening May 8, 2014 at the Haase-Lockwood & Assoc. Funeral Home and Crematory in Twin Lakes with Pastor Joyce Rosen officiating. Inurnment will be in Mound Prairie Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4:00PM until the time of services at the Funeral Home. Memorial remembrances may be made to the Twin Lakes Food Pantry, 701 N,. Lake Ave. Twin Lakes, WI 53181.
