Lois M. Lewis, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 9, 1932, in Minnesota, the daughter of the late George and Minnie (Richter) Jacobsen. She was united in marriage to her first husband Laurel Newman on July 15, 1955; after Laurel’s passing she was remarried to Chuck Lewis on April 23, 1977. She was a Registered Nurse and graduated from the Naeve Hospital. During her life, she was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elkhorn, WI. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, boating, and watching Jim’s band play. She also enjoyed joining Jon who gives trishaw rides to seniors through the Cycling Without Age program. She attended all the kids and grandkids’ sporting events. Everyone confided in Lois with their health issues. She was known as the family doctor to them. Her family was her priority, and she loved them more than anything. She will be deeply missed and will be loved forever and always.
Lois is survived by her five children, Joel Newman, Jon (Susan Hollister) Newman, Jim (Claudia) Newman, Charles (Cathie) Newman and Brenda (Troy Gordon) Newman; sister, Carol (Bob Lewellyan) Jacobsen; sister-in-law, Penny Jacobsen; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Lindsey, Jayce, Bryce, Brent, Christian, Nicole and Ryan and nine great grandchildren.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, George and Minnie Jacobsen; first husband, Laurel Newman and second husband, Chuck Lewis; siblings; Marion (Mac) McCullen, Lloyd Jacobsen, LaVonne (Raymond) Mueller and Vernon Jacobsen.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorials be made to Cycling Without Age, 1527 Meadow Lane, Elkorn, WI 53121 and St. John’s Lutheran Church, 104 S Broad St., Elkhorn, WI, 53121.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 104 S Broad St., Elkhorn, WI, 53121 at 11:00AM. A visitation will take place at church, from 9:00AM until the time of service. The family would like to give a special thank you to Edgerton Care Center and to Bristol Hospice for taking such good care of Lois.
