Lorraine M. Matthews, age 77, of Elkhorn, WI, died on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Vintage on the Ponds in Delavan, WI. Daughter of the late Reedie and Caroline (Meister) Austin, Lorraine was born on April 4, 1946, in the town of Geneva. She grew up on a farm in Springfield, WI, and as a student cheerleader, had the privilege of cheering during a visit from Senator John F. Kennedy to her small hometown. Lorraine's family later moved to Lake Geneva, where she graduated from Badger High School and went on to attend UW-Whitewater. Living and working on a farm as a child instilled a strong work ethic and love for working outdoors in Lorraine. She held a lifelong job as a dental assistant and secretary at a dental office from the age of 14. On March 22, 1969, Lorraine was united in marriage to Carl F. Matthews, who preceded her in death in 2017. Longtime member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Geneva, Lorraine had strong faith that was paramount in her life. In her free time, Lorraine enjoyed working outside in her yard and gardening.  She was an avid Wisconsin sports fan, who loved the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers and the Bucks. Lorraine enjoyed attending Lake Geneva Badgers football games, and boys' and girls' basketball games with her husband.   They attended so many that they were both awarded with a lifetime pass to the basketball games.

Lorraine is survived by her stepdaughter, Tammy Newman; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; and her parents, Reedie and Caroline.

A memorial visitation and service will take place on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1101 Logan St., Lake Geneva, WI, 53147. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of the service at 11:00AM. A luncheon will be held at church following the service, and inurnment will take place at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
