Louise (Piazza) Kroening Garrison, 84, of Elkhorn, WI took her place with God on August 27, 2017 at Journey Care Hospice Barrington, Il.

Louise was born July 29, 1933 in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi to the late Vincent J. and Ina (LeBlanc) Piazza. She graduated from the St. Joseph Academy in 1950 and the Charity School of Nursing in 1953. Louise married Donald W. Kroening in July of 1952 and resided in Biloxi, MS while Don served in the Air Force in Greenland. They later moved to Bay St. Louis, MS, Harvey and Vernon Hills, Illinois, and then Elkhorn, WI.

While the caring mother of four children, Louise began her nursing career at St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island, IL. After moving to Vernon Hills, IL, Louise served as a nurse at Condell Hospital until her retirement. After retiring, she also worked at the Condell Acute Center and managed the Condell Medical Equipment department performing home care assessments.

Perhaps her most rewarding endeavor was serving God at St. Mary of Vernon Church in Vernon Hills, IL where she taught Religious Education until moving to Elkhorn, WI.  She also worked at the School for the Deaf in Delavan.

At St. Patrick's church in Elkhorn, she chaired the Prayer/Worship Committee. She also instructed Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers, served with the Communicants, assisted at funerals, and many other activities until her passing. Louise's first loves were God and family.  In addition to her activities at the church, Louise enjoyed boating, waterskiing, southern gourmet cooking, and entertaining friends.

After husband Donald Kroening of 47 years passed away, she later remarried Jewell Garrison in 2007.

Louise is survived by her husband Jewell, her children: Donald (Debra) Kroening, Jr and Vincent (Kathy) Kroening both of Mundelein, IL, and Pamela J. Furey of Barrington, IL, Daughter-in-law Connie Kroening of Vernon Hills, IL.  Her eight grandchildren: Justin, Angie, Kelsey, Rachel, Lindsay, and Ryan Kroening; Lauren (Jason) Belmonti and Michael (fiancée Nina) Furey. One Great-grandson: Bernard Belmonti, Three sisters; Ana Marie Piazza, Mildred Anderson, and Marylin McLendon and by a host of other relatives and friends.  Louise is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald Kroening Sr., her son William Louis Kroening, her sister Ina Minas, and her brother John Piazza.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 PM (Noon) Friday September 1, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church 107 W. Walworth Street Elkhorn, WI with Father Oriol Regales officiating.  Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Elkhorn, WI.  Visitation will be Friday morning from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 730 N.
