Obituary

Lowell Voskuil, 81, of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on January 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 25, 1943, in Sheboygan, WI, Lowell lived a full and impactful life, dedicated to his family, his faith, and his community.

Lowell was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, papa, puck, teacher, and friend. Lowell loved his wife, Bev, deeply. They were married on June 30, 1962. Their life together was built on a foundation of faith, mutual respect, kindness, and unwavering commitment, a beautiful example to all who knew them.

Lowell loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all his heart, always standing by their side through every challenge and every accomplishment. His steadfast support and encouragement were constants in their lives, reminding them they could always count on him no matter what.

Faith in God was central in Lowell's life. He was an active member of his church, serving on the consistory and chairing the property committee, always lending his time and talents to the church community. He led by example, instilling values through his actions and leaving a lasting legacy for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to carry forward.

A graduate of Cedar Grove High School, Lowell excelled both in and out of the classroom. He served as class president for two years and earned All-Conference honors in football and basketball, as well as an honorable mention on the state basketball team. Lowell had a lifelong passion for sports, not only as an athlete but also as a coach, referee, and mentor. After graduating from LaCrosse State University, he taught physical education for 34 years, shaping countless young lives and encouraging a love of athletics. He coached football, basketball, baseball, wrestling, and track; he played and umpired softball and refereed basketball. His athletic achievements were recognized later in life with inductions into both the Elkhorn Area High School Athletic Hall of Fame as a coach and the Cedar Grove-Belgium High School Hall of Fame as an athlete. After retiring from teaching, he worked at Ridgestone Village for 17 years, where his kindness and dedication left a lasting impression.

Lowell was an avid golfer who achieved his goal of golfing in all 50 states. He loved road trips with Bev, attending Brewers, Packers, and Badgers games, and playing weekly sheepshead games with his longtime friends. He also enjoyed reading and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.

He led a life filled with purpose, warmth, and integrity, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. He will be deeply missed.

Lowell is survived by his loving wife, Bev; his children, Michelle Voskuil (Greenfield), Stephanie (Steve) Braatz (Elkhorn), Pete (Pam) Voskuil (Brookfield); his three brothers, Neil (Bonnie) Voskuil, Dean (Sue) Voskuil, Dale (Renee) Voskuil; his sisters-in-law, Muriel Voskuil, Jan (Phil) Vergowe; his grandchildren, Ashley (Andy) Logterman, Tysen Braatz, Kaitlyn Kelly, Caleb Stiles, Ethan Stiles; his great-grandchildren, William Logterman, Eleanor Logterman, Violet Logterman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Irene Voskuil; his father and mother in-law, Ernest and Gladys Lammers; his brother, Keith Voskuil; his brother-in-law John Voskuil; his sister-in-law Judy Voskuil; his nephew Daniel Voskuil.
