Lucille J. Coates, 80 of Walworth, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Walworth Township on January 20, 1937, the daughter of the late Frank "Lee" and Hazel (Nichols) Ryer.  Lucille was united in marriage to Charles "Chuck" R. Coates on February 11, 1955 at Brick Baptist Church in Walworth, WI.  She worked for many years as an Activities Director at Golden Years in Walworth, WI. Lucille was always very active in the work of the church, including missions, serving on committees and leading the youth.  She was an active and dedicated member of Gideons International and the Walworth County Gideon Camp.  She served as the past President of the Gideons Auxiliary for the State of Wisconsin and held various positions in that organization.  Lucille was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Lucille is survived by her husband of 62 years, Chuck, of Walworth, two daughters; Gail (Steve) August and Cheryl (Kevin) Brugger, both of Walworth, WI, six grandchildren; Jessi (Shawn) Panyk, Tyler August, Chase (Amanda) Brugger, Emmy (fiancé, Mark Biselx) August, Cody (Kate) Brugger and Tessa (Mike Springer) August, six great-grandchildren; Asa, Lucy, Harper, Wade, Lainey and Marley, five siblings; Kenneth (Theo) Ryer of Walworth, WI, Carolyn Ryer of Berthoud, CO, Mary (Gary Morris) Cairns of Poplar Grove, IL, Audrey (Bud) Kammes of Eagle River, WI and Harold (Jean) Ryer of Roscoe, IL, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 11:30AM on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Briggs Road Evangelical Free Church, 4654 Briggs Road, Elkhorn, WI. Visitation will be 9:30AM until service time Thursday at the Church.  Interment will follow at Cobblestone Cemetery in Walworth, WI.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International of Walworth County.  Online guest book www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.  Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the Coates Family.
