Lurley J. Nixon, age 92, of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at home. She was born on January 25, 1931, in Toulon, IL, the daughter of the late Charles and Thula Burton. Lurley was united in marriage to Ronald Nixon and enjoyed visual art, dancing, music, crocheting, knitting and casinos. She also wrote and published a book inspired from another beyond the grave. Lurley was known as a strong-willed, independent, compassionate "flaming mamie" who will be dearly missed by her family.

She is survived by her children: Val (Thomas) Pauls, David Nixon, Jacqui (Larry) Collins and Ronald (Hildegard) Nixon, and sister Edith (Dale) Heinz; grandchildren: Jennifer, Jamie, Lori, Ronnie, Bob, Joe, Shelly, Jason, Adrian, Melinda and Emily; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Lurley is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Nixon; daughter, Gwen Sween; and siblings Dorothy, Tyne and Jack, David, Norman and C.J. Burton.
