Obituary

Lyle "Bob" Taylor MSGT, USAF, Retired. Age 82 of Elkhorn, WI died on Tuesday July 26, 2016.  Lyle was born February 25, 1934, son of the late Basil and Mabel (Vanschoik) Taylor.  Lyle married Ethel Strand on December 30, 1956.  Lyle served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1974, received an Honorable Discharge and retired as a Master Sargent while relocating to Wisconsin in the fall 1974.  Among Lyles Honorable service, he was deployed to Germany and completed two (2) tours in Thailand in support of Vietnam. After retiring, he became a member of the Elkhorn VFW.  Lyle had many talents that he has passed onto his own children.  In his younger days, he spent time coaching little league baseball and football teams.  He enjoyed woodworking, camping, and hunting; he spent time flying stunt kites, flying radio controlled airplanes, and setting up radio controlled toy trains.  His family meant the most to him, and he especially loved his grand children.  Lyle is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.  Lyle is survived by his wife, Ethel; four children; Robert USN RET. (Patti Smith) Taylor of Elkhorn, David (Mona) Taylor of Elkhorn, Scott (Karen Mathison) Taylor of Milwaukee, and James (Gina) Taylor of Elkhorn; nine grandchildren; Colleen (Greg) Cotich, Joshua (Trisha) Taylor, James Taylor, and Cassandra Taylor (children of Robert and Patti), Tara Jacobs, and Allen (Patti) Taylor (children of David and Mona), Brittany Taylor (daughter of Scott), Brianna and Brooke Taylor (daughters of James and Gina), five great grand children; Teagan (daughter of Cassandra), Hunter (son of Tara), and Dommius, David, and Joshua (sons of Allen and Patti); one sister Erma Weber; and one dog; Scooter.  A Funeral Service will be held at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home 730 N. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI on Monday August 1, 2016 at 3:00PM.  Visitation will be held before the service at the funeral home from 1:30PM until 3:00PM.  Interment will take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Tibbets with Military Honors immediately following the Funeral.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Lyles name to the Wisconsin Wounded Warriors Foundation.  Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home of Elkhorn is assisting the family.
