Marc Gerretsen, age 73, of Salem, WI, died on Saturday, March 15, 2025. Son of the late Robert and Rita (Kain) Gerretsen, Marc was born on April 11, 1951, in Waukegan, IL. He grew up in Fox Lake, IL, graduating from Grant High School. On July 15, 1972, he was united in marriage with Kathleen Grosse in Long Lake, IL. The couple moved to Salem in 1977, where they raised their two children. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing golf. Marc also loved to watch football and root for the Chicago Bears. Above all else, Marc cherished his grandchildren and time spent with them. His kids settled down locally, and he was blessed to have his children and grandchildren nearby.

Marc is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Kathleen Gerretsen; children, Melinda Unger and Kyle (Jessica) Gerretsen, grandchildren, Violet Unger, Hannah and Leo Gerretsen; and sister-in-law, Jean Gerretsen. In death, he is reunited with his parents, Robert and Rita; and brother, Thom Gerretsen.

A private graveside service will take place in the near future. Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory of Twin Lakes is honored to serve the Gerretsen family.
