Marilyn J. Olson age 93 of Powers Lake, WI. died April 30, 2026. She was born on February 19, 1933 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The daughter of the late Emil F. Juedes and Florence Mertz Juedes. She was united in marriage in Milwaukee, WI on February 20, 1960 to Gene O. Olson who preceded her in death on November 12, 2017.
She graduated from Rufus King High School in January of 1951, she then continued her education at the Wisconsin State Teachers College which is now the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1955 with a Bachelors Degree in Art Education. She taught Art for three years at New Holstein High School; taught Art, P.E., and was the cheerleading advisor at Wilmot Union High School for 3 years (where she met Gene); and taught Art for sixteen years at Randall Consolidated School.
Marilyn was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Twin Lakes, WI where she served as past president. At Messiah she was also one of the first Sunday School teachers and served on the Alter Guild. After her retirement she became a watercolor artist, taking classes and workshops showing her work in various exhibits. She has paintings hanging in private homes in numerous states.
Loving mother to Michael (Lori) Olson of Waterford, WI., Gregory Olson of Elkhorn, WI and Betsy (Steve) Johnson of Rockton, Il. Grandmother of Garrett (Tonya) Olson, Grant (Jennifer) Olson, Matthew (Julianna) Johnson and Andrea Johnson. Great Grandmother of Charlotte and Greyson. Further survived by sisters in law Paula Juedes, Mary Olson, and Ruth (Brandt) Werner. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Carroll (Ronald) Plamback, Richard Juedes and Bette (Walter) Hignite.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday May 7, 2026 at 11:00AM at Messiah Lutheran Church 8720 368th Ave. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of services at the church. Private family burial will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Union Grove, WI. Memorials in her name may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church . The Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home of Twin Lakes, WI is honored to serve the Olson family.
