IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvin K.
Marzahl
April 4, 1938 – March 16, 2025
Marvin K. Marzahl, 86, of Delavan, passed in his sleep at Golden Years, Lake Geneva on the morning of March 16, 2025. He left this world as he entered it: in the middle of a spring snowstorm.
Marvin was born on April 4, 1938, in Elkhorn, WI. He graduated from Woodstock Community High School, where he met his wife of sixty-six years, Carol. They married on September 21, 1957.
Marvin was a proud fourth-generation, lifelong farmer. He also worked as a mechanic, and was the yard foreman and millwright at Wickes Lumber in Elkhorn for twenty-five years. Marv was forever tinkering, building, and planting. He single-handedly added on a larger kitchen to the cedar shake foursquare where he and Carol finally settled. He stocked the homestead with fruit trees and a vegetable plot, and converted the garage into a woodworking shop with a chimney of granite fieldstone, where he built everything from cabinets and toys to holiday decorations and bookshelves.
Marv could cut a rug like nobody's business, and he was everyone's favorite dance partner at family weddings. Dancing into his senior years kept Marv spry and sociable.
Marv and Carol also loved to travel. As young parents, they took their children on an epic road trip thru the American West; they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii; and they toured Scandinavia in their retirement.
Marvin was a member of Como Community Church for many years and served on the Board. He especially enjoyed preparing meals for those in need at Thanksgiving.
Marvin is survived by his son Scott (Kathleen) of Issaquah, WA; son Curt of Belmont, WI; daughter Kathy Mortenson of Scottsdale, AZ; son Kevin of Bloomington, IN; daughter Stephanie (Corey) Schoenrock of Woodbury, MN; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and brother Larry. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Carol, and parents Kenneth and Cora.
The family will hold a private burial at Spring Grove cemetery in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to Aurora Hospice
