Mary Ellen Sweet, age 92, formerly of Elkhorn, WI bid us a fond farewell at Grace Commons in Menomonee Falls, WI on Thursday, July 4, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.  Born on March 24, 1932 in Kohler, WI to the late Leo and Winifred (Hudson) Ebben, Mary Ellen was a live-wire who led her life with a fierce loyalty to her family, a great deal of tenacity and a solid dose of sass.

Married to her one and only, Lowell E. Sweet, for an incredible 70+ years, their union has been a testament to true love and an enduring partnership. They tied the knot on August 29, 1953 after having met on a blind date less than seven months earlier.  Mary Ellen was a devoted member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elkhorn as faith became a cornerstone in her life.

Mary Ellen ran the household while also assisting in Lowell's law practice. Her sharp mind and keen eye made her an avid market watcher and savvy investor. She also embraced a never-

ending desire to explore the newest and latest technological gadget. Politically charged and never shy about her opinions, Mary Ellen was a dedicated member of both the Walworth County

and Wisconsin Republican Party, always ready for a spirited debate.  Her fiery spirit and quick wit will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Her indomitable spirit and that mischievous smirk paired with a twinkle in her eye will forever be a cherished memory.

Mary Ellen is survived by her husband, Lowell, three children: Lawrence (Brian) Sweet, Diane (Lawrence) Keane, and Sara Paulson. In addition, she was the incredible grandmother to five granddaughters: Stephanie, Caitlin, Chace, Caroline and Grace-Marie who were her pride and joy. She cherished every moment spent with her granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother; Leo Ebben.
