In Loving Memory of Mary Jo Lewis

Mary Jo Lewis, aged 77, of Elkhorn, WI, peacefully passed away at home on January 28, 2024.  Born on June 28, 1946, to Conrad and Lorraine (Stiegler) Fischer, she married the love of her life, Gary Lewis, on February 25, 1967.

Mary Jo and Gary, both teachers and coaches, shared a life filled with family, sports, and outdoor adventures. They had two children, Jeff and Kristi "Kricket." An avid reader, Mary Jo also had a passion for the outdoors, engaging in activities such as swimming, sailing, waterskiing, cycling, golfing, cross-country skiing, and hiking. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore the Ice Age Trail and embark on a bike journey from Elkhorn to Door County with a few close friends. Her competitive nature reached its peak when she scored a hole-in-one at Geneva National.

A dedicated sports enthusiast, Mary Jo was a passionate fan of the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers. She is survived by her husband Gary, children Jeff (Prentice) Lewis and Kristi (Troy) Lewis-Wells, her brilliant and athletic granddaughter Landry Lewis; siblings Tom (Sue) Fischer and Lynn (Dan) Mueller; in-laws Ron (Jean) Lewis and Scott (Diane) Lewis; special cousin Mark (Linda) Jena, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A public Memorial Mass will take place at St. Patrick Catholic Parish in Elkhorn, 107 W. Walworth St., on February 9, 2024, at 11:00 am. The Mass will be officiated by Fr. Tom Franzman. Visitation begins at 10:00 am, and a luncheon will follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Patrick Parish, UW-Madison Carbone Cancer Clinic in Madison, WI, or Aurora Health at Home in Burlington, WI.  Arrangements are managed by Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory in Elkhorn, WI.
