It is with a heart that will never be whole again that I share the passing of my beloved son, Mason Christopher Langel, age 23, on Friday, July 17, 2026.

There are no words that can truly express the pain of losing a child. Mason was my son, my protector, my best friend, and one of the greatest blessings of my life. He had the kindest heart, the sweetest soul, and a quiet strength that made everyone around him feel safe. He never hesitated to help someone in need. Whether it was fixing a truck, lending a hand to a friend, or simply showing up when someone needed him most, Mason was always there. Helping people wasn’t something he did—it was simply who he was.

Mason had a passion for working on trucks, especially his beloved Ford F-250. He loved figuring out how things worked, getting his hands dirty, and bringing something broken back to life. Nothing made him happier than helping someone else or spending time with the people he loved.

To me, Mason was so much more than my son. He was my protector, my strength, and one of the greatest gifts God ever gave me. Through some of the darkest moments of my life, Mason stood beside me, picked me up when I couldn’t stand on my own, and saved me in more ways than he will ever know. I will forever treasure every hug, every laugh, every conversation, and every moment I was blessed to spend with him.

Mason adored his younger brother, Leo, and his little sister, Harper. He loved spending time with them, making them laugh, teasing and tormenting them like only a big brother could, and creating memories they will carry with them forever. Beneath the playful teasing was a fierce love and protectiveness that never wavered.

Mason also shared a very special bond with his cousins, Brock, Liam, Jett, and Maverick. Brock and Liam were more than cousins—they were like brothers to Mason. Mason and Brock loved each other like brothers and argued like brothers too. Mason and Liam shared a bond that was unbreakable, always having each other’s backs through life’s ups and downs. Along with Jett and Maverick, his cousins brought him laughter, friendship, and countless memories that will be cherished forever.

Mason leaves behind his loving mother, Rebecca; his brother, Leo; and his sister, Harper. He will be forever loved by his grandmother, Terri Rogers, with whom he shared a very special bond; his aunts and uncles, Brandon and Clair, Marty and Jenny, Derek and Haily, and Lonnie and Karen; his cousins, Brock, Liam, Jett, and Maverick; his many cherished friends; and countless extended family members whose lives were forever touched by his kindness, generosity, and love.

He was preceded in death by his father, Chris Langel, who passed away on October 5, 2003, and by his beloved stepfather, Thomas “Tom” Sweatman, who passed away on October 10, 2022. I find comfort in believing they were there to welcome Mason home with open arms.

Although my heart will never fully heal, I will forever be grateful for the 23 years I was blessed to be Mason’s mom. I will carry his love with me every day for the rest of my life. His kindness, his smile, his laughter, and the countless lives he touched will never be forgotten. His memory will live on in every act of kindness, every helping hand, and every person whose life is better because they knew him.

A private Celebration of Life will be held for family and close friends to honor and celebrate Mason’s life.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Mason’s memory are encouraged to perform an act of kindness for someone in need. There is no better way to remember Mason than by sharing the compassion and generosity that defined his life.

You will always be the brightest part of my memories, the deepest part of my heart, and the greatest gift of my life.A beautiful soul is never forgotten. Love lives on, memories remain, and hearts stay connected forever.
