Matthew J. Cummings

Matthew John Cummings, 67, of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 6th, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Ginny (Polnow), and children, Michael, Brian, and Madelyn. 

Matt was born to James Gordon Cummings and Bernadette (Smith) Cummings on July 9th, 1959, in Waukegan. He graduated from Marian Central Catholic High School in 1977, where he played football and performed in school musicals and a barbershop quartet. He loved hockey, golf, skiing, the Chicago Bears, and long walks in the woods. He worked as a carpenter, building and remodeling hundreds of homes in north Chicagoland, as well as working on wooden roller coasters and government buildings in the region. He was proud to be a member of Carpenters Local 250. 

Matt and Ginny were married on March 1st, 1986. They moved to Twin Lakes with their children in 1994, and enjoyed gardening, backyard fires, and beating their friends at pool. They set for their children an excellent example of a loving marriage, and raised them to be generous, witty, and kind. 

Matt’s family will celebrate his life at Veterans Park in Genoa City, Wisconsin, on Sunday August 30th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Friends and neighbors are welcome to share lunch and memories.
