Michael J. Curtis Sr.

Michael J. Curtis Sr., 69, of Twin Lakes, WI, left the loving arms of his family to enter the loving arms of God, on Monday, February 9, 2026. Son of Richard and Irene (Eccardt) Curtis, Mike was born on August 3, 1956, in Chicago, IL. He grew up in Bridgeview, IL, one of six children. Mike was a sweet child who mostly stayed out of trouble, despite having plenty of opportunity with his four brothers, earning him the title of “the favorite”. He spent many weekends and summers of his childhood at the family cottage in Twin Lakes, where he enjoyed boating and waterskiing–which he went on to share with his children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Mike was a proud Boy Scout and his lifelong love of camping and the outdoors began with the Scouts. He participated in various Scout events with his sons, including camping trips and Pinewood Derbies. Mike took his family on camping trips all over the country, pulling a camper with his trusty Suburban, or later, his Ford F-250. An avid snowmobiler and Arctic Cat fan, Mike went on countless trips “Up North” to Eagle River, WI. Whether a weekend with the guys or vacation with his family, Mike was truly happy Up North, and especially loved feeding and watching the deer.

On October 1st, 1980, Mike began working at the family business, C-Davis Rentals in Chicago, alongside his father and siblings, and later, his sons. On October 1, 2004, C-Davis closed its doors and Mike joined his brother, Frank, at A to Z Rental in Antioch, where he worked until his passing. He was devoted to his work and providing for his family, and was lucky to make many wonderful friends at the store over the years.

Mike married Heidi Richter on July 25, 1987, at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, NV. The couple met on a blind date and knew quickly that they wanted to build a life together. Mike’s twin son and daughter and Heidi’s son joined them in the camper on a road trip vacation to Las Vegas where they tied the knot and became a family of five. In 1989, they completed their family with daughter number two.

Mike was a kind and gentle man whose generosity of time, resources, and spirit made an impression on all who knew him. He expressed his love for people through acts of service and is truly the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He could fix anything, always knew what was wrong with your car, and gave better directions than any GPS. Mike’s absence on Earth will be felt deeply, and we will carry him in our hearts until we meet again.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Heidi Curtis; children, Shannon (Brian) Rapier, Michael (Becky) Curtis, Robbie Curtis (Shelley Farnsworth), and Melanie Curtis (Bob Hespen); grandchildren, Austin and Kaitlyn Bell, and Riley and Aiden Curtis; siblings, Rich Curtis, Tom (Linda) Curtis, Bob Curtis, and Cathy (John) Kathe; many special nieces and nephews; and plenty of loyal friends.

In death, Mike is reunited with his beloved parents, Richard and Irene Curtis; brother, Frank Curtis; as well as his grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 12:00PM until 3:00PM. A funeral service will follow at 3:00PM. Services at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory, 620 Legion Drive, Twin Lakes, WI, 53181.
