Michael "Mike" J. Sweeney

Michael “Mike” J. Sweeney, age 68, of Elkhorn, WI, passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones, after fighting cancer for fourteen months. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts to John and Valecia (Zalinsky) Sweeney. He was united in marriage to his loving wife, Mary (Lucas) Sweeney on May 16, 1981, in Fontana, WI. They were married for 45 wonderful years and created a beautiful family.

Mike was employed at Stellana US (formerly Trostel SEG) in Lake Geneva, WI as a line operator, then promoted to operations supervisor, and lastly as the production manager. His career spanned 28 years with this company, and he retired from it in March of 2020. Towards the tail end of his career, he traveled to Qingdao, China, to help open the company’s Chinese polyurethane fabrication factory.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family - especially with his grandchildren. He was an avid golfer, and he taught his wife how to play. They golfed as much as possible each summer and had a blast out on the course! He also loved his dog Sophie very much and was the light of his life. Napping in his mancave on the recliner was their shared daily activity. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed dearly and honored through memories.

Watching football each season was one of his favorite activities. He rooted for the Chicago Bears (GO BEARS!!!), while his wife remained a Green Bay Packers fan.

Mike and Mary relaxed and travelled to numerous destinations throughout the years, including Tucson, Arizona, where his dad and brother reside.

Mike is survived by his wife, Mary; father, John Sweeney; brother, Dan Sweeney; children, Jennifer (Al) Farnsworth, Joey (Katie) Sweeney; grandchildren, Lilly and Lacy Farnsworth, Derrick and Charlie Sweeney; and dog, Sophie.

Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Valecia Sweeney and brother, Jack Sweeney.
