Nicholas G. Murphy, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away on December 29, 2025, at the age of 67 in Lady Lake, Florida. Born on January 14, 1958, in Racine, Wisconsin, Nicholas lived a life devoted to his family, his work, and the community he so cherished.
On April 23, 1983, Nicholas married his soulmate, Melodee nee Buxton. Together, they built a loving home filled with warmth and laughter. Nicholas was a devoted father to his children, Benjamin (Kayla) Murphy, Amanda (Tim) Vandeville Jr., and Amber (Andy) Powell. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren—Joel (8), Isaiah (5), Hudson (3), Tyson (1), Olivia (11), Harper (9), Rylee (8), and David (5)—who brought immense joy to his life.
He is survived by his loving mother, Jean Murphy, and his siblings—Jerry (Polly) Murphy, Susan (Perry) Michalos, Larry (Shasteen) Murphy, Julie (Michael) Juranek, and Paul (Angel) Murphy.
Nicholas was preceded in death by his father, John Murphy.
Nicholas devoted 45 years to the Kenosha County Parks District, serving as the West End Superintendent and leaving an indelible mark through his commitment to preserving and enhancing the parks’ natural beauty. His role allowed him to share his love for the outdoors with others, promoting a sense of stewardship and appreciation for nature that he instilled in those around him. Known as a handyman at heart, Nicholas took great joy in lending a helping hand to friends and family, embodying the spirit of generosity that defined his character.
Nicholas had many passions outside of his work. He loved gardening, biking, camping, and playing pickleball, and he was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with his family.
As we remember him, we reflect on a life filled with love, laughter, and a profound commitment to family and community. Nicholas G. Murphy’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, forever inspiring kindness and service to others. In honoring his legacy the family has asked for donations to the family so that a memorial tree will be purchased and placed at the County Park that he cherished.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday January 10, 2026 at 11:00AM at the Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 620 Legion Dr. Twin Lakes, WI. Inurnment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Randall, WI. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the time of services at the funeral home.
The family welcomes guests to honor Nick by wearing Green Bay Packers attire or Hawaiian shirts—a tribute that would have brought him great joy.
