She was born May 6, 1938, in Elkhorn, WI, the daughter of the late Ralph and Leona (Buchberger) Collins. Patricia was born and raised in Elkhorn, WI. She had hoped of being a nurse and attended school in Milwaukee. That is where she met James Mansfield and was married and had two children, Mike and Laurie. She always said she married too young and the marriage was short lived. Soon later, she married John Smiley and had two more children, Joanna and Eddie. John also had two sons, Leroy and Glen. The family ran a dairy farm in Whitewater for a few years until her husband changed careers and moved to Elkhorn around 1967. Patricia also worked at Elkhorn Plastics and General Woodworkers. While her husband was an over the road truck driver, Patrica took care of the home. Patricia enjoyed Friday night fish fry's at the Sterlingworth supper club and coffee time with her neighbors and friends. Patricia loved the movies, especially Gone with the Wind and Lalaland. Her favorite show was Outlander, especially her favorite character, Jaime. She enjoyed music and fondly remembered playing the clarinet with her marching band. Patricia loved listening to her guys, Elvis and Frank Sinatra. She was a great listener and had a laugh that could lift any mood. Her sense of humor was unmatched. Patricia was a hard worker, everyone knew her as trustworthy and very respectful of others. Patricia loved to watch all sports, especially her favorite athletes, Tom Brady and Tiger Woods. Patricia was a loving and devoted mother, grandma, and great grandma, who will be deeply missed by her family.
Patricia is survived by her four children: Mike (Kelly) Smiley, Laurie Zwiebel, Joanna Salas, and Ed (Christina) Smiley, stepson, LeRoy (Kathy) Smiley, 16 grandchildren; Jim, Shannon, Josh, Branden, Jessica, Connie, Rachel, Nicki, Jodi, Corey, Jacob, Anthony, Kayla, Emma, Isabelle, and Audrey, 16 great-grandchildren, two siblings: Jimmy Collins, and Bob (Eunice) Collins, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
