Obituary

Peter Mayne Bonyata, 85 of Genoa City, WI passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2014. Devoted husband to his loving wife Marilyn L. [Simpson] and father to Joseph (Barbara), Anthony (Nanette) and Philip (Mary). Grandfather to James (Casey), Allison, Peter, Michael (Janet), Jennifer (Peter Schoen), Alexandra, Isabella and Elijah. Great-grandfather to Mason, Jameson, Dominik, Tyler and Cameron.
Peter is survived by his brother John and sister Janie Olsen, along with his wife, three sons, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Peter was born in Grinnell, IA on November 27, 1929 to Alfred M. Bonyata and Wilma R. [Otis]. He later attended Iowa State University in Ames, IA and graduated in 1956 where he received his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Technology. He gained employment with the Quaker Oats Company where he worked for the majority of his life, working in the company's facilities in Cedar Rapids IA, Elizabeth NJ, Pekin IL, Chicago IL & Barrington IL. In addition to Quaker Oats, he was also employed for one year with the Pillsbury Company in Minneapolis, MN in 1976-77.
Peter worked his way up to the position of Director of Quality Assurance for Quaker Oats before retiring in 1995, where he enjoyed reading (history and World War II, in particular, were two of his passions), excursions with his wife and cooking elaborate meals for large family gatherings.
Peter's vast wisdom, kindness, good humor and deep love of his family will be cherished and remembered by all that knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Haase-Lockwood Funeral Home, 113 Freeman Street, Genoa City, WI. Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
