Peter T Shemanske

Peter T. Shemanske of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin peacefully passed away at home on August 27, 2026 at the age of 75. He was born on April 16, 1951 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and he will be remembered with love for the life he built, the work he gave himself to, and the family and community ties he held close.

Peter earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Parkside in 1973. During his time there, he served as captain of the university’s fencing team, an accomplishment that reflected both discipline and determination. He went on to build a long career in sales, working for Snap-on Tools for 20 years and for Matco Co. for 10 years. He was also a longtime member of the Moose Lodge of Kenosha and a 3rd Degree Mason with the Masonic Lodge of Kenosha, connections that spoke to his lasting commitment to fellowship and community.

He found enjoyment in life’s familiar pleasures, especially cheering on the Green Bay Packers and following NASCAR, with a special love for watching Dale Earnhardt race. These interests brought him joy and were part of the spirit that made him so easy to know and remember.

Above all, Peter treasured his family. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Shemanske, whom he married on March 10, 2007; her sons, Jonathan Jahnke and his wife Ashley, and Nicholas Jahnke and his wife Jasmine; his beloved grandchildren, Emerson, Evelyn, and Everett and several nieces and nephews; his twin brother, Paul Shemanske, and sister-in-law, JoAnne Shemanske. Each of them carries forward memories of his presence, his interests, and the place he held in their lives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Shemanske, and his mother, Clara (Pelischek) Shemanske.

Visitation for Peter will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 8720 368th Avenue, Twin Lakes, Wisconsin 53181, with the funeral service beginning there at 12:00 p.m. In honor of Pete’s vibrant personality, spirit, and love of the Green Bay Packers, guests are invited to wear Packers gear, Hawaiian shirts, or comfortable casual attire. A private entombment will take place on September 8, 2026, at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Peter’s memory at support.woundedwarriorproject.org.

Peter’s life was marked by steady work, enduring loyalties, and the simple joys that brought people together. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

The family extends a special thank you to the hospice team, Aurora Health at Home, for the extraordinary compassion, comfort, and dignity they provided to Peter in his final days, and for the kindness and support they showed his family along the way.
