IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Phyllis E.
(Dye) Gebauer
May 10, 1938 – August 15, 2018
Phyllis E. Gebauer, age 80 formerly of Elkhorn, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at her residence in Appleton, WI. She was born May 10, 1938 in Moline, IL, the daughter of the late Boyd and Cleone (Wetherbee) Dye. Phyllis was united in marriage to Glenn Gebauer Sr. on August 14, 1954 in Aurora, IL. Together they lovingly raised seven children over a span of five decades. Once her children were old enough, she attended college at UW-Whitewater and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work, with a minor in psychology in 1989. It was her passion to help others, and she was able to turn it into a career.
Phyllis was a great supporter of the arts, both in her church and in the community. She encouraged all of her children to grow musically through piano lessons and in band. She attended thousands of performances through the years. There was never a family function without music involved. Phyllis took art classes and lovingly painted ceramics for her family. She also enjoyed sewing and sharing her hand-crafted work. Phyllis adored her farm and animals, and spent hours helping with 4-H projects for the Walworth County Fair.
Phyllis loved the Lord and her church family. She served in countless ways including music, hospitality, missions work and women's Bible studies. Phyllis sang with her church choir and also played and directed various hand bell and children's choirs. She was a pianist at Briggs Road Church and cherished playing hymns.
Most of all, Phyllis was a devoted wife and mother. She was a constant companion to her husband Glenn for 64 years. Phyllis assigned each of her seven children one day of the week and prayed specifically for that child on THEIR day. She leaves behind a legacy of faith and commitment to her family. She will be greatly missed, but we rejoice that she is now with our Lord and Savior forever.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband, Glenn, seven children: Terri (Mark) Reed of Rockford, IL, Glenn Jr. (Julie) Gebauer of Burlington, WI, Kent (Ruth) Gebauer of Delavan, WI, Alan (Sue) Gebauer of Victoria, MN, Julie Gebauer of Two Rivers, WI, Joan (Mike) Tallroth of Appleton, WI and Paul (Sally) Gebauer of West Allis, WI, twenty grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and sister, Ede (Pete) Larmon of Wheaton, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: David and Roger Dye, and great-grandson, Emmett George Atticus Scott.
