Richard R Witt

Richard R. Witt, a devoted family man and respected member of his community, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, at the Hospice Alliance Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Born on March 20, 1943, in Chippewa Falls, WI, Richard’s life was marked by dedication, kindness, and an enduring commitment to those around him. The son of the late Raymond and Monical (Kastel) Witt.  

Throughout his professional career, Richard applied his skilled craftsmanship as a welder, contributing his expertise to International Harvester and Chrysler. Beyond his work in industry, he served his community as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with the Salem Rescue Squad, a role reflecting his compassionate and selfless nature.

In retirement, Richard found a special joy in his role as the honorary greeter at Salem Grade School. What began as a simple act to see his grandson blossomed into many joyous years of offering a friendly smile and warm greetings to all who passed by. His kind and friendly demeanor was a beacon of warmth and comfort to the community.

Richard cherished spending time with his grandchildren, welcoming every opportunity to be part of their lives. Family was at the heart of his existence, and his legacy lives on through his loving relatives. He is survived by his devoted wife, Judith (Kaskin) Witt; his sons Steven (Kim) Witt and Michael Witt; and his daughter Susan (Brian) Luengen. He was a beloved grandfather to Taylor, Lilli, and Hunter, treasures of his later years.

Richard is also remembered fondly by his sisters Margaret, Barbara, Nancy, Mary, and Beverly (Mike), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and longtime family friends who held him in high regard. He was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Witt.

Services to honor and celebrate Richard’s life will be held on April 4, 2026, at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 11233 306th Avenue, Wilmot, WI. A visitation will take place from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by the funeral service from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

Richard R. Witt’s kind heart, friendly spirit, and unwavering dedication to family and community left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His many years of joyful presence and heartfelt greetings will be treasured and remembered by those whose lives he touched.
